MBA Curriculum
The MBA curriculum is comprised of five
major components: Foundation Courses
& Proficiency Requirements, Core Courses,
Option Courses,
International
Requirement and the
Capstone Experience. In addition, all Proficiency Requirements must be met the first quarter of admission into the program.
Catalog Course Descriptions
Foundation
Courses
The foundation courses for all MBA options and the mathematics and statistics proficiency requirements are intended to satisfy the common body of knowledge in business administration as defined by the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the professional accrediting body for Business Administration degree programs. Students with foundation courses to be completed are urged to apply and be admitted to the MBA program as early as possible.
Foundation courses are waived for students
with an undergraduate degree from an AACSB-accredited
university. Other students may have
foundation courses waived based on
equivalent undergraduate courses, on a
course-by-course basis.
Proficiency Requirements
Equivalent coursework completed with a grade of "C-" or higher will satisfy the
MATH
and
STATISTICS
proficiency requirements. Students who have not satisfied the MATH and STATISTICS proficiency requirements will be blocked from registering for classes that require these proficiencies as prerequisites. Students who have not taken the
WST will be blocked from registering the second quarter after admission to the program.
Core Courses
The Graduate Core courses of the MBA curriculum provide the foundation for the advanced work that occurs later in the program. The Core is common to the schedule of all MBA students.

Policy on the use of 3000-, 4000-, and unrestricted 6000-level courses in the M.B.A.
Most M.B.A. options restrict the use of 3000-, 4000-, and unrestricted 6000-level courses. You should clear any planned use of upper division undergraduate coursework in the 45 units for your M.B.A. degree with either the graduate option advisor or the CBE Director of Graduate Studies.
